Since each data has its context, its intended meaning and its intended use…. it make a lot of sense for subject matter experts in data to manage the master data for that category. There will be situations where one data group/element has multiple usages and by virtue of multiple usages and contexts, cross functional teams be involved. (For example, Customer data is consumed by Sales, Marketing, Support, Warranty and Accounting so a cross functional team representing these groups makes sense for Customer data. While Suspects is something marketing might want to work to nurture before they become leads and hence marketing can drive master data management for suspect as data groups….
